The mornings grow darker and colder. I don't hear the sound of Geese making their way South anymore. Weddings are over for the season (mostly) but things don't seem to slow down for more than a hot second. And this beautiful collaboration could not have come at a more perfect time. The Universe often sends you things right when you need them and when I found myself sitting in front of Hannah, the owner of Honey Holistic Esthetics, listening to a vision of portrait photography, self-expression, self-acceptance, and self-love I was instantly in. This was right up my alley! The song I've been singing for the past two years.
Rebeccah is a yoga and hula-hoop dance instructor in Vergennes. Hannah did makeup and Rebeccah twirled, danced, spun and ended with some yoga. I photographed, Hannah interviewed Rebeccah and wrote some inspiring words about living her happiness you can read here.
I'm a firm believer in creating safe space. I believe the values we all inherit that say work is more important than play, that to rest is lazy, and that to be an adult you must be hard on yourself in every way imaginable are wrong. We can show each other that we're all perfect in our imperfection through safe space. We can help each other get a leg up out of the self-hate/worry mindset be showing each other some love and acceptance, by showing our own imperfections.
The struggle to stay an artist AND a business owner can be hard. Personal projects and breaks are so necessary. A very special thanks to these two beautiful and seriously talented souls for creating that break, safe space and project with me!
