Boss Up! Open-Air Pay What You Can Headshots

UPDATED January, 2022

During the pandemic many people lost their jobs or made big changes in their careers. So many people moved to remote work and took the chance to start a new career or business. The need for new headshots for websites or LinkedIn grew exponentially. I wanted to keep helping the women I serve to make all those career changes a success and I saw a way to make it work safely even though we were in the middle of a pandemic.

The headshots for this series were taken in an open air location. The setup was just right to get great natural lighting where the subjects were still covered overhead so we could shoot no matter the weather. Masks were worn by everyone until they were seated and I was able to use a long focal length lens so I could maintain a safe distance.

Scheduling was done easily online with limited spots on the second Saturday of every month. I wanted to use this as an opportunity for EWPCS to give back to the community. So the headshots were offered on a pay-what-you can sliding scale. It's hard enough for women to compete and get jobs with equal pay during normal times and I really wanted these women to have the best advantage possible.

Folks came from all over Vermont for headshots. During this series which ran during the Summer of 2021, I took a total of 1,078 headshots for artists, therapists, entrepreneurs, teachers, and women applying for grants. Below you will find the original listing for the series and some of the images taken.

Open-Air Pay What You Can Headshots

Profiles on LinkedIn with professional headshots are 14 times more likely to be clicked on. Why? Because they increase perceived competence and likability. People with professional headshots are taken more seriously and are more likely to be hired. But professional headshots aren’t accessible to many women who need it the most. EWP wants to help level the gender hire & pay gap.

Headshots aren't just for LinkedIn, they should be used anywhere you have an online presence and you should have current headshots on hand for your next career level-up, whether it's for a job or press release.

Women’s pay what you can/donation-based headshot shoot-out event. Socially distant and in the open-air. 8 spots available. Each participant will be given a 15-minute time slot and provided with professionally edited digital file headshots. No outfit changes.

ALL WOMEN ARE WELCOME HERE!

Value of $350. Pay what you can afford. All donations go to making headshots accessible to women in need.
